#WA #Fire #Corp Update: Bushfire ADVICE for North West Coastal Highway in the Shire of Ashburton Sunday 3 November 2013 - 3:04 PM The following information has been issued by the Department of Parks and Wildlife A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for people travelling along North West Coastal Highway south of Onslow in the Shire of Ashburton. The fire is in the Cane River Conservation Park on about 15km east of the highway near the Onslow Road turn off. The Department of Parks and Wildlife is working closely with neighbouring landowners who have been notified of the fire. There is no threat to lives or homes but smoke is visible from the highway. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date. WHAT TO DO: Be extremely careful when driving through the area. Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. ROAD CLOSURES: No roads are closed. RECREATION SITE CLOSURES: No recreation sites are closed. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The bushfire is moving slowly and the area is expected to be affected by smoke. It has burnt through 3000 hectares. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: DPaW is monitoring the fire. CAUSE: The cause of the fire is thought to be lightning.
