#WA Severe Weather Warning bit.ly/1bkl8Jm for destructive winds, damaging winds and abnormally high tides for people in the Central West, Lower West, South West, South Coastal, South East Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts Issued at 4:21 am WST on Sunday 22 September 2013. For people in parts of WA southwest of a line from Jurien Bay to Merredin to Hyden to Israelite Bay. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Jurien Bay, York, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Narrogin, Katanning, Albany, Esperance, Mandurah and the Perth metropolitan area. Weather Situation A deep low and associated strong cold front is moving across southwest parts of the state this morning. Conditions should ease for a period during this afternoon, before another strong cold front moves over the southwest late this evening and during Monday. The weather systems are likely to cause WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. In isolated areas DANGEROUS GUSTS in excess of 125 kilometres per hour could cause SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. DAMAGING WINDS and DANGEROUS GUSTS are currently affecting areas southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Merredin to Bremer Bay, and are forecast to move to areas south of a line Walpole to Narrogin to Hyden to Israelite Bay after 8am Sunday. Conditions should ease for a period after 2pm Sunday. HOWEVER, expect DAMAGING WINDS and DANGEROUS GUSTS to redevelop southwest of a line Perth to Walpole by 11pm Sunday. HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES may cause FLOODING OF LOW-LYING COASTAL AREAS between Perth and Albany. DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS are likely which could cause SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION. The following wind gusts have been recorded: 107 kilometres per hour at Rottnest Island at 2:33am. 98 kilometres per hour at Cape Leeuwin at 1:15am. 98 kilometres per hour at Ocean Reef at 2:52am. 93 kilometres per hour at Garden Island at 2:43am.
