WADDELL SAWS WOOD AS TEAM BEATS DETROIT DETROIT, April 22 [1908]—While the Browns were pounding out a 7-to-3 victory over the Tigers Wednesday afternoon, Rube Waddell, in plain view of the grand stand, sawed wood near the clubhouse, aiding the park carpenter in making some repairs. Never did a carpenter work harder than the park tinkerer’s volunteer assistant, and Rube, in explanation, said that the exercise was the best he had found for his arm.
