WAIHI EAST SCHOOL NEWS Kia Ora, congratulations to our ‘Round the Bridges’ participants Mia, Madison H, Connor T, Kellim, Mikayla, and Levi. These students competed in the running challenge in Hamilton over the weekend and recorded exceptional run times. Our thanks to Michelle Tai, Shar and Project Energize for organizing our tamariki and providing a bus for Waihi students to attend. Today Phil has his touch team over in Paeroa. We look forward to hearing their results later today. Our thanks to Clarke and Phil for sharing their skills and training our students during lunchtime. 2014 Year 5/6 camp planning is well and truly underway. I visited our camp site over the weekend and know our tamariki are going to have an outstanding time. Our programme has been modified and new exciting activities have been planned. All students are highly subsidized due to fundraising and man are we getting bang for our buck including a 50% discount on our flash ‘lodges’. Please pay your $80 camp fees by the 29th of November. A huge thank you to our seed sales team-you guys!! It was a hard product to sell, and we appreciate your efforts. Constable Brett Otto, our Police Education Officer completes his ‘Keeping Ourselves Safe’ programme this week. Our students now have a tool box of skills to use when faced with a situation that is unsafe to them. Please chat about what was learnt at home and revisit when you feel it is appropriate. This week Constable Brett and I had a chin wag to our cyclists. We gave a very strong message about bike safety and what can happen when you are not focused. Please reinforce this at home. One near miss is one too many in our eyes. Nga mihi nui koutou Emily ([email protected])
