WAIT! Hebrews 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. When your praying for something, the last thing you want to hear is God say is wait! But sometimes He does. And in order to walk with Him you must learn o be patient because He works according to His schedule and not yours. All your praying and pleading wont accelerate the process, itll just frustrate you. Furthermore, if life has indulged your every want and whim, learning to wait on God will be like going through spiritual rehab. When Abraham was seventy-five, God promised to make him a father of many nations (Ge 17:4). But he had to wait twenty-four more years before he received what was promised. Waiting isnt simply something you do in order to get what you want; waiting produces patience, maturity, understanding and character. What God accomplishes in you while youre waiting is often more important than the thing your waiting for. Hebrews 10:36 says this: For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Now waiting isnt an excuse for dodging reality, shrinking your responsibility, or not doing the right thing. For example, if youre up to your eyeballs in debt due to overspending, dont sit around waiting in God to send you a big check. Learn to discipline yourself and adopt sound financial principles like tithing, budgeting, and doing without it until you can pay for it. Above all, waiting means making a decision to trust and obey God when things arent going the way you planned. Its saying Lord, Im counting on You, and I dont have a backup plan. Above all else guard your affections. For they influence everything else in your life.
