WAIT Most of us are always in a hurry when looking or asking for something. I suggest that we always exercise some patience and wait; ‘But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired (Isaiah 40:31).’ In some cases, we do not even know how to ask so we miss this important aspect of waiting. Who are those that should wait? They’re those that have dream/vision of what they’re asking for. In Matthew 7:7, we read ‘Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.’ Now, if each time that you ask God gives you what you asked for at what point will you seek or knock? Jesus has this to say about our need and asking; ‘Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him (Matthew 6:8) [Amplified Bible]. The question now is; if God knows my need before I ask, why does He wait for me to ask first before answering me. Or why does it take so long in some cases for Him to answer me?’ There could be host of reasons but few of them are; (a) ‘You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures (James 4:3).’ What you’re asking is not in line with God’s purpose. (b) From Matthew 7:7, it is clear that we need to know what it is that we need before going to God to ask. Remember that God wants the best for you and the first good thing that He did for mankind brought Him accusation/grief (Genesis 3:11-12; 6:6). Define your need and until you can identify it in your inner mind. When you’re able to see it in your inner mind then ask. When you have a clear vision of your need then send your request. Please understand that it is very important that you get your specifics right because God does not share His glory; ‘I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images (Isaiah 42:8).’ When you’re able to vividly define your need and present it to God, He will bring you you’re answer in such a way that you’ll know that only Him could have done it. The question now is having done all these, how long do I have to wait? The waiting period in some cases depend on the size of the need. Let us not forget that the Devil is the god of this world so God will have to make a way of escape for you (1 Corinthians 10:13). Because you’re now seeing the result of your request in your inner mind as a vision, the book of Habakkuk 2:3 has an advice for us; ‘For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.’ That appointed time is the time your way of escape will be revealed to you. COURAGE TO WAIT: ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).’ Note that His promise is to give us an expected end which means that we have to be expecting our blessings at all times. Do not give up hope of faith because God is not man that He should lie. PRAYER POINT: Lord, I have defined my need(s) and can see the result mentally. I now bring it/them to your throne of grace for your careful perusal. If there is any amendment to this/these need(s) kindly make all the necessary corrections with my permission. Thank you Lord for I wait anxiously for my answer(s) in Jesus name.
