WAITING FOR OUR BLESSED HOPE - THE GLORIOUS APPEARANCE OF OUR GREAT GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST! “And as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of YOUR COMING (parousia | παρουσία) and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you!” (Matthew 24:3–4, LEB) “For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will BE THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE SON OF MAN. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather. “Immediately AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and THEY WILL GATHER HIS ELECT from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Matthew 24:27–31, ESV) “For as were the days of Noah, so will be THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE SON OF MAN. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE SON OF MAN.” (Matthew 24:37–39, ESV) “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then AT HIS COMING (parousia | παρουσία) THOSE WHO BELONG TO CHRIST.” (1 Corinthians 15:22–23, ESV) “For who is our hope or joy or crown of boasting? IS IT NOT EVEN YOU, IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR LORD JESUS AT HIS COMING (parousia | παρουσία)?” (1 Thessalonians 2:19, LEB) “And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that HE MAY ESTABLISH YOUR HEARTS BLAMELESS in holiness before our God and Father AT THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST with all His saints.” (1 Thessalonians 3:12–13, NKJV) “For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that WE WHO ARE ALIVE, WHO ARE LEFT UNTIL THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE LORD, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. FOR THE LORD HIMSELF WILL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. THEN WE WHO ARE ALIVE, WHO ARE LEFT, WILL BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR, and so we will always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15–17, ESV) “Now may THE GOD OF PEACE HIMSELF SANCTIFY YOU ENTIRELY; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame AT THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23, NASB95) “Now, brethren, CONCERNING THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND OUR GATHERING TOGETHER TO HIM, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; FOR THAT DAY WILL NOT COME UNLESS THE FALLING AWAY COMES FIRST, AND THE MAN OF SIN IS REVEALED, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1–4, NKJV) “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. AND THEN THE LAWLESS ONE WILL BE REVEALED, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing BY THE APPEARANCE OF HIS COMING (parousia | παρουσία).” (2 Thessalonians 2:7–8, ESV) “THEREFORE BE PATIENT, BROTHERS, UNTIL THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE LORD. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the soil, being patient concerning it until it receives the early and late rains. You also be patient. STRENGTHEN YOUR HEARTS, BECAUSE THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE LORD IS NEAR.” (James 5:7–8, LEB) “Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “WHERE IS THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING (parousia | παρουσία)? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”” (2 Peter 3:3–4, NASB95) “BUT THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME LIKE A THIEF, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, WHAT SORT OF PEOPLE OUGHT YOU TO BE IN HOLY CONDUCT AND GODLINESS, LOOKING FOR AND HASTENING THE COMING (parousia | παρουσία) OF THE DAY OF GOD, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!” (2 Peter 3:10–12, NASB95) “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. And now, little children, abide in him, SO THAT WHEN HE APPEARS WE MAY HAVE CONFIDENCE AND NOT SHRINK FROM HIM IN SHAME AT HIS COMING (parousia | παρουσία).” (1 John 2:27–28, ESV)
