“WALANG KUKURAP!”- a fair warning to the audience, is Master - TopicsExpress

“WALANG KUKURAP!”- a fair warning to the audience, is Master Sabrine’s battle-cry every fight night. For indeed you do not want to miss a beat. The three minute per round, three rounds per fight could end in a matter of seconds. That is how thrilling each night could be. It has been proven time and again. The Mix Martial Arts (MMA) Sports to the untrained eyes could really seem brutal and crude. However, with regular exposure, like a story unfolding onscreen, your eyes will be able to see MORE. There is the warrior – his strength, stamina, technique, strategy and his magnificent dream (to be perhaps the Manny Pacquiao of MMA sports and not just be a mere lookalike). You will see the teams (gyms) – their discipline, the competitive spirit and, their passion and dedication. You will see the sport – combative, extreme, new. You will also see entertainment – live, raw and sometimes a stroke of comedy. You will see the audience – practitioners, enthusiasts, the curious and the risk takers. If you look even deeper and beyond, that which binds them together, you will find professionalism and crudeness, friendship, generosity and deception, idealism and confusion, hope and ambition. Birthing ups and downs? Like life, realities one must go through in order to gain wisdom and strength. But who is Master Sabrine? It is a known fact that in the United States of America, this sport started as an underground activity. Now it is a legitimate sport with its own rules and procedures and is globally popular. In the local setting, there is a rapidly growing awareness and a large pool of well-trained fighters waiting for their day in the sun. Filipino and International organizers took notice. In the end they play a big role of bringing the sport to the people. To date these efforts seemed not enough judging by the thin crowd during some events. More activities and exposure to keep the idea alive and constant in the consciousness of the local community is needed. The day Warrior’s League Championship (WLC) partnered with the National Muaythai Kick Boxing Council of the Philippines (NMKBCP) is a good day for MMA in the Philippines. Belief in and respect for the sport and each other are their common ideals. With proper handling and given more time, MMA events will be a BIG thing in the country. Kick-off events dubbed “Tune Up Fights” (TUF) started in May 31, 2014. The seventh and last of these fights was in August 30, 2014. These series of battle were held to drum up the existence of the group and its forthcoming activities, primarily the WLC MMA Tournament First Season. Commencing September 13, 2014 up to December 2014, the tournament consists of six (6) preliminary eliminations, three (3) semi-finals and one championship night for ten (10) weight categories. But then they say, the secret to a good match is a good “match up”. If that is the case then WLC is on the advantage. “WALANG KUKURAP”. You had been warned.
