WALKER SAYS TOO CLOSE TO CALL Candidates remain cautiously optimistic Non-partisan gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker this morning encouraged supporters to wait patiently for the final results in the 2014 election. Speaking to a crowd at Alaska Election Central in the Egan Center in downtown Anchorage, Walker informed supporters that the race is too close to call at this point. Another Alaska election has come down to the wire, Walker said. Well just have to wait and see what effect absentee and questioned ballots will have on the totals. Walker addressed the group of over 100 supporters crowding Election Central, stating: Byron and I have been thrilled and humbled by the support of so many Alaskans. We cannot begin to adequately thank our wonderful families, and all our campaign workers, volunteers, and supporters. They are dedicated Alaskans, one and all. We vow to continue to do everything we can to put Alaskas interests first every time. Alaska faces difficult times and tough choices. Regardless of the victor in this election, I hope well all come together as Alaskans to move our state forward. Byron Mallott was originally scheduled to appear with Walker at Election Central. However, his scheduled flight was struck by lightening prior to take off and thus grounded in Juneau. Mallott and his family were able to fly into Anchorage on a later flight, but not before operations at Election Central closed for the night. Both candidates stated they will carefully watch the election returns in the coming days and weeks and are hopeful that the positive trend in the numbers continues
