WALKING RUNNING FLYING By Pastor Ola Makinde @ the 2015 Sandy Cove Prayer Retreat Isaiah 40:28-31(KJV) Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Philippians 2:12 (KJV) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. INTRODUCTION Brethren, from the scriptures that we read we can clearly see that the God we have come to seek on this mountain is the Everlasting God; he is there forever. He is the Lord over all, the creator of the end of the earth. He can never faint nor get weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He controls power (Psalm 62:11). He gives strength. It doesn’t matter how you came, or what brought you here; it is guaranteed that you will have testimony by the time you are leaving! My prayer is that by the time you leave this mountain, your situation would have changed for the best because the Bible says in Psalm 50:5-6 Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice. Brethren, Isaiah 40:31, shows us the mind of God and His expectations for our life as we continue to progress in our walk with Him. This is why Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians in Philippians 2:12 admonished us to work out our own salvation with fears and trembling. God’s ultimate desire for all his children is to be flying like an eagle in every area of their lives because He is an Eagle God. We have seen this manifested from generation to generation in the lives of his children. Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles wings, and brought you unto myself. By definition “walking” is movement that occurs at regular pace by lifting and setting down each foot in turn and never having both feet off the ground at once. “Running” is a form of movement that moves rapidly on foot. It’s a bit tedious, painful, and exhausting. It requires lots of energy. “Flying” is the ability to move through the air with wings. They that walk do so with many, those that run do with few and those that fly do so ALONE. Brethren, there is nothing wrong if your present status shows that you are walking or running but it becomes a great sin and insult to the work of redemption leaving this mountain without an unquenchable desire to join the flyer group!!! AREAS GOD WANTS US TO BECOME FLYERS HEALTH: God want us to live in health and even become vessels that flow healing virtues into the sick (3 John 1:2, Jeremiah 30:17). PROSPERITY: It is an aberration for any child of God to be living in poverty or a life of struggle!!! Our God owns the heavens and the earth and all that is in it (Psalm 24:1, Job 36:11). GREATNESS: It is the desire of God for all his children to become great and eventually attain greatness regardless of their foundation, race or color (Acts 10:34-35, Genesis 12:2). HAPPINESS: The word of God in 1 Peter 1:8 talks about joy unspeakable full of glory. This is the plan of God for you and I (Isaiah 51:11, Isaiah 61:7). SPIRITUAL: According to the design of creation and God’s blue print, you were built, manufactured, and internally programmed to be and act like God (Genesis 1:26). Your inability to function or operates like God is because of your ignorance. If it is the desire of God for me to mount up with wings as eagles and become a perpetual flyer in every areas of my life, how then can I become a flying Christian? HOW I CAN BECOME A “FLYING” CHRISTIAN Spirit of Revelation: Until you are able to discover who you are, what you are, and what you can do in Christ through the gift of redemption by the word (Joshua 1:8, Ezekiel 2:2), the devil will permanently cover your face in ignorance and waste away your portion and inheritances. Brethren, it is time for you to know that you’re carrying inside of you a redemptive deposit and virtue that is greater than any that and of the great names in the Old Testament ever had (Matthew 11:11). You are ordained for unlimited height. Flying is inevitable the moment you begin to see your destiny through the eyes of God (John 14:12, 26). Must be Lead alone by God: God has never failed and he will never will. He doesn’t make mistakes because every situation is within His control. Who is leading you? Abraham, Elijah, Isaiah, David, Moses surrendered all to the leading of the Lord, they operated in high places (Deuteronomy 32:12-13). Even the Lord Jesus Christ submitted to the leading of his father (John 5:30, Ephesians 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:24). Stop looking at your present situation: Brethren, every great thing starts small. Don’t allow your present situation to determine where you are going. There is a seed of greatness in you!!! No woman has ever given birth to a giant/ heavy weight baby, there are first small before becoming heavy weight (Deuteronomy 32:10, Job 8:7, Isaiah 42:1, Zechariah 4:10). BENEFIT OF A FLYER EASY LIFE: Just like for an Eagle bird life becomes very easy. The eagles wait patiently on the mountain then study the direction of the wind. They then flow, jump into it, spread out their wings and begin to fly in the direction of the wind. The Holy Spirit is the wind; we can never go wrong if we flow in his direction. EXTRAORDINARY STRENGTH: You are endowed with extraordinary strength to be able to shoulder and carry every weight lightly (Isaiah 11:2). WHAT MUST I DO TO REMAIN A FLYER? VIOLENT PRAISE: The word of God encouraged us to always come to his presence with praise. Everyone who desires to remain a flyer must learn to offer un-wandering, un-interrupted violent praise to God even when the situation we are in doesn’t suggest that (Acts 16:25, Job 13:15). FASTING & PRAYER: For you to continue to fly high in life, your level of commitment to prayer must increase daily. It must be Consistent and Persistent. A P-U-S-H (Pray Until Something Happens) kind of prayers. Tarrying in the presence of God until an answer is received is the prayer criteria of a flyer. Hannah, Jabez, Jacob prayed until their situation changed. UN-WAVERING FAITH: You must always operate in Goliath killing kind of Faith. Knowing fully well that God is BOUND to his words (Hebrew 11:6, Mark 9:23). ABSOLUTE & TOTAL OBEDIENCE: It is evidently clear that God will never break his word. He is respecter of no person. Though we are in the dispensation of grace and mercy, the word of God is forever settled. Obedience in the time of old is still the same now. Airplane scenario: Airplanes fly on instruction or else they would crash. Also the case of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15: 17-24 and Moses in Deuteronomy 3:26. SACRIFICIAL SOWING: The case of Abraham (Genesis 22:15-18). HOLINESS: You must live holy to remain a flyer because HOLINESS is the only license that permits you to fly (Hebrew 1:9).
