"WANTED WEDNESDAY" Columbus, Ohio - Police Search for Teen Suspects Who Beat Puppy to death, Robbed Man COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna/Kelsey Mallahan) -- Columbus police officers searched Tuesday for five suspects who beat a two-month-old pit bull puppy to death and robbed a man on the Alum Creek walking trail near Parkridge Park. Police say the five teenage suspects approached David Lockhart as he was walking the puppy named Storm, which belonged to a friend, around noon in northeast Columbus. The suspects demanded Lockhart hand over the dog. When he refused they started punching it. “That was their way to get her out of my arms because I literally held her,” said Lockhart. The suspects then took the man’s wallet and ran away. Storm’s owner, who lives on the 4500 block of Wingfield St., said she’s been the target of break-ins and harassment in recent months. She got the dog and asked Lockhart to stay with her for protection. Police say the suspects could be charged with animal cruelty, a first degree misdemeanor. If you know anything about this crime, or where police can find the suspects, call Columbus Police at (614) 645-4545.
