WANTED: a proper gender-neutral pronoun for people who are not comfortable with either he or she and their various forms. Many trans people would like to have one. I can understand their desire to use they/them/their, but really, thats a plural usual, and the language needs it. It is obviously not going to do. I wonder if theres some kind of pronoun from one of the more fringe dialects of Middle English (West Country, Northern, Yorkish) that would do?
