WAR OF THE WORLDS is a fundraiser for SCI-FEST LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival. All-Star Sci-Fi Cast. Date: January 17th at the Acme Theatre in Hollywood. Chekhov” on the original “Star Trek” series), René Auberjonois and Armin Shimerman (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”), Linda Park (Star Trek: Enterprise) Tim Russ (“Star Trek: Voyager”) Wil Wheaton (“Star Trek: TNG” & “Big Bang Theory”) will play “Orson Welles” Also featured: Dean Haglund (“The X-Files”) Jason Ritter (“The Event”) About “War of the Worlds” War of the Worlds was originally performed on October 30, 1938, and aired over the CBS radio network. Conceived, directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the program (innovatively staged as an urgent news broadcast) became famous for causing mass panic, although the extent of this panic is debated. The script is over 75 years old, but it is still surprisingly scary. About Sci-Fest LA SCI-FEST LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival debuted in May of 2014 to sold-out houses and huge critical acclaim. The organization’s mission is to produce an annual festival of new, beautifully realized, visually compelling sci-fi one-acts featuring many well-known actors from beloved sci-fi and fantasy franchises. In addition to the festival, Sci-Fest LA also promotes quality short science fiction through its two writing competitions, the Roswell Award and the Tomorrow Prize for Short Fiction, which is open exclusively to area high school students.
