WARNING - PASS THIS ON. Recently, Ive been seeing a viral video, irresponsibly published by news.au, showing a woman claiming to make fizzy champagne out of goon or cask wine. This is a troll video and if you follow her advice you will very likely destroy your Sodastream and risk serious injury. Sodastream instructions clearly state that ONLY water should be fizzed in the machine, and cordial or syrup added afterwards. Fizzing up pre-mixed drinks, including wine, in a Sodastream, causes a powerful gas explosion that pops the cylinder and sprays liquid at extremely high pressure around the room when you release it. This is why the woman in the goon video never shows her releasing the bottle - she just makes some vague excuse about you have to let it sit and fetches out another bottle she CLAIMS to have prepared previously, but which she probably filled with ordinary bubbly. She does not state how long you have to let it sit or how to tell when to release it. The video below shows what REALLY happens when you fizz up wine in a Sodastream. This kid was very lucky. You may not be. Try this stunt at your peril. Please share this with your friends in case they think to try this. You might save someone from serious injury.
