WARNING: A rant is about to begin! Valid Service Dog Training organizations do not just hand out service dog ID cards or train service dogs for children or families who WANT them. These animals are task trained for individuals that NEED them, and I can tell you that there are usually hoops to jump through in order to even be considered. In Austins case, numerous referrals from non-family members and doctors were required before we were even able to get a phone interview to speak with the director of 4 Paws for Ability. After that, we agreed to raise funds in order to help our organization continue its mission. It is a long and lengthy process and typically, those who go through it do so because the dog is a necessity for their child. This video is about another 4 Paws family from Arkansas. The battles they are facing are unfortunately VERY real and heartbreaking. These battles are the exact reason why I want to spread awareness and acceptance of these amazing, task-trained animals.
