WARNING: CONSTITUTION & FOUNDING FATHERS RANT: People keep spouting off about the Second Amendment as if they believe we actually have any Constitutional rights anymore. The Constitution also says we are protected against unlawful search and seizure (Fourth Amendment) but that doesnt seem to matter and we have a separation of church and state. The First Amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion yet weve added under God to the pledge of allegiance in 1954 and weve added In God we trust to the currency in 1956. There are also Ten Commandments monuments in courthouses and seven states which ban atheists from holding public office. The Tea Party would like you to believe this is a Christian nation, but if you actually read any history, you will quickly learn how incorrect that assumption is. Our Founding Fathers were VERY clear about this: Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man. - Thomas Jefferson Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites. - Thomas Jefferson The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as His father, in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. - Thomas Jefferson I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature. - Thomas Jefferson “I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state.” - Thomas Jefferson “Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, then that of blindfolded fear.” - Thomas Jefferson The Government of the U.S. is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion. - John Adams An alliance or coalition between government and religion cannot be too carefully guarded against. - James Madison “The civil government … functions with complete success … by the total separation of the Church from the State.” - James Madison “If I could conceive that the general government might ever be so administered as to render the liberty of conscience insecure, I beg you will be persuaded, that no one would be more zealous than myself to establish effectual barriers against the horrors of spiritual tyranny, and every species of religious persecution.” - George Washington The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason. - Ben Franklin Lighthouses are more helpful than churches. - Ben Franklin and there are a lot more of these... So sorry Christians, but this is NOT a Christian nation. If you want your guns, you have to also accept our separation of church and state. You cant cherry pick the Constitution to fit your agenda.
