WARNING FOR THE ELDERLY - On Thursday evening at around 8pm my elderly mum who lives at Avondale had a dodgy character knock on her door come to read the meter. A woman, long dark coat, no ID (just flashed a piece of paper) and quite aggressive - just show me the meter. Mum told her the meter was outside, shut the door and locked herself in - the woman disappeared a few minutes later. Recently there have been 2 burglaries in houses near to mum and theres also an incident of someone having his gas meter stolen! (They get about a fiver in scrap for them) Mum is shaken and feeling stupid for having dealings with the woman - my worry is that she could have got into the house. Ive spoken to the police and theyve asked that if anyone else has been visited by this character will they please report it to the police.
