WARNING!!! GRAPHIC PHOTOS! Hello everyone. When it rains, it pours. Earlier today we were made aware by one of our awesome foster parents of a dog that had a pretty severe injury to his rear leg. He is a young male pit mix that we have named Hector in honor of Hector the Pitbull who passed away earlier today. Approximately one week ago, Hector sustained an injury to his leg from his chain becoming wrapped around it, while playing outside. He was taken (by his owners) to the vet where they were informed that his leg needed to be amputated and it would cost $1,300. They elected to take him back home to treat, and the leg has continued to fester and infect since that time. Hectors leg from the injury down is now dead. A volunteer took possession of him earlier today and we rushed him to Dixie Animal Hospital to be stabilized and he will be transferred to Elk Creek tomorrow. He is septic and started IV antibiotics and pain medication today. There are lots of moving parts to this situation, but we are working to make sure that he gets the care he needs and deserves. We will update tomorrow once he is at Elk Creek and they have a chance to assess him. We will need to raise a significant amount of money to take care of Hector and the other dogs in our care and all donations are greatly needed and are tax deductible.
