WARNING! WARNING! Long status about the festival films I have seen so far :) Rio, I love you - Rio, eu to amo... I could say these words over and over again, but this was the name of the movie I watched the day before yesterday. Shot by 10 different directors, this film has an amazing cast including my fave Vincent Cassel! The film is about love and falling in love in Rio and with Rio, basically reminding me once again how much I want to be in Rio right now! Watch this movie when you feel blue or miss love... The Search... (Dir. Michel Hazanavicius) made by France and Georgia. Its about the Chechen War and its atrocities. Made me think of our own Karabakh war and the refugees, broke my heart seeing this movie. Stations of The Cross - Kreuzweg (Dir. Dietrich Brüggemann) made by Germany and France. This was another difficult film to watch with a heavy subject of religious fundamentalism. You suffer with and for the heroine and ponder over the question of tolerance and religious fanaticism. A must watch I would say! Boyhood (Dir. Richard Linklater, USA)... how can a movie that starts with Coldplays Yellow song be bad? Especially if it has my favorite Ethan Hawke? For the duration of 3 hours, you watch a boy from a kindergarten turn into a young man going off to college. Its a family chronicle shot from 2002 to 2014 with the same cast playing and also taking part in the writing process of the script. Never got bored for a moment and saw my own life unfold in front of me. Gotta watch it, people! And finally the movie that took my breath away! I Origins (Dir. Mike Cahill, USA)... What can I say? I watched the entire film in one breath! I could feel it under my skin if that is close to describing how I felt. It had science, it had crazy love, it had spirituality, wisdom, everything that makes my heart skip a beat. HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You will thank me later ;-) Looking forward to my 2 films tonight... Will write about them tomorrow I hope!
