WARNING: We have received a number of reports of an overseas organisation calling members of the public asking for donations on behalf of ‘RSPCA Tasmania’ or just ‘RSPCA’. The person is said to have an Asian accent and states she is fundraising on behalf of RSPCA. People who received these calls said the caller did not answer questions such as what country she was calling from, nor could she provide any identification or a number to call back. The caller also became quite insistent when questioned. Anyone representing RSPCA Tasmania will happily provide identification. We urge all supporters not to give any details to callers claiming to be fundraising on behalf of RSPCA if they are unsure of the authenticity. It is believed that the scammers are calling individuals in other states as well - purporting to be from RSPCA.
