AKUFFO ADDO CAN NEVER LEAD THIS NATION ..................................................................................................................................................................... I wanted to rest and reflect over the works of Osagyefo but listening to PeaceFM news this evening,i am forced to suspend my holidays to touch on a sermon delivered by one of our prophets.According this man of God,Akuffo Addo per spiritual permutations cannot win any election to lead this country.He traced the ancestral curse from the days of the great King Sir Ofori Atta linking it to the elections defeat of JB Danquah and to Akuffo Addos father.One fact to be made clear is that,President Akuffo Addo married a daughter of Sir Ofori Atta,he was a son of Akropong Akwapim.Yes the people of Akropong have close family links with Abuakwa,they migrated from Akyem to present day Akropong as embassaries of Ofori Panyin to protect the people of Akwapim especially,,the kyerepongs from attacks by the Akwamus,Ofori Kuma headed the delegation and positioned their nephew at Amonokrom to protect the area from the west,they also planted Okyehenes representatives as sub chiefs at many of the Akwapim towns to monitor and report any act of rebellion so in Aburi for instance,the Kronti and other families are decendants of Kyebi. To the topic,yes there is an iota of historical truth with the revelation though personally,i dont buy too much into these dynamics.You see,western culture is gradually killing our naturally gifted powers and virtues.We still attend Akwasidae,pour libation,attend our festivals and funerals but still think we can rubbish our traditions,we fear incurring the wrath of the gods and fear witchcraft attacks meaning,we still hold the spiritual fact that there exist certain powers on this earth.The Akyem issue is a controversial one and i can state without contradiction that it wouldnt be easy if not impossible for an Akyem directly from the line of Ofori Atta or Owusu Akyem Tenten to win political power with Osei Tutu leading the Ashanti Kingdom.This is so because of the Ashanti dominance vis a vis certain historical facts.In the year 1700-1702 date not so sure,Osei Tutu made war against the Akyems,the Akyems then were divided into three branches Abuakwa,Bosome and Kotoku we know that the Bosome and Kotoku people came from Asantemanso and the Abuakwa from Adanse .The Abuakwas moved across the pra river to capture the Akwamu land meanwhile the Abuakwas supported the Denkyeras against the Ashantis and started killing and robbing Ashanti traders.Osei Tutu led an army to defeat them twice.The Abuakwas gave up and promised to pay tribute.osei tutu went back and together with his friend Okomfo Anokye started arranging home affairs because the Juabengs Mampong and other places have started internal revolt.Akyem Abuakwa declared war against the Ashantis Osei Tutu immediately took an army across the pra to invade the Abuakwas but the Akyems laid hidden on the banks of river pra while the van of Ashanti army crossed,waited until they saw the Asantehene himself crossing the river in his hammock.They shot and killed him.The Ashantis didnt return back until they defeated the Akyems but death of their cherished king remained fresh in their minds till now hence the great oath MEMENEDA? the penalty Which was death. The real point is,when Opoku Ware son of Nyarko Kwasiamoa took over he established the second oath Ntamese Mmiensa the great oath of three.He was a weak child and often had fits of shaking.Okomfo Anokye said that it was because he was anxious to fight and he made him a sword called Mpomponsu which became part of the stool treasures of Ashanti thia is where the curse evocation occured,those who killed Okomfo Anokyes best friend and founder of modern day Ashanti King Osei Tutu were cursed and The Kyebi stool was not left out,Remember that when news broke out that osei tutu was dead the Denkyeras and others started their attacka and Owusu Akyem Tenten of Kyebi made war again that was was called Ahanta war,Opoku Ware invaded Akyem captured Owusu and killed him and his skull placed with that of Ntim Gyakari on Odwira fetish.I will later touch on how Moro Ebirim was killed after invading the Ashanti Kings palace.The blood of Owusu Akyem was used to finally evoke the most powerful curse on the Kyebi stool.The Kyebi Kingdom has never been that powerful again.Naturally,this Ashanti versus Akyem differences has been there since ages,they dont agree on simple issues whereever the meet .These dynamics and other factors contributed to the 79 break up and will remain so because,the two remain the most powerful at the south no doubt about that with the Ashantis leading,Kyebi gathers support intermittently from its Aduana groups but still cant stand the might of the Ashantis.Those thick blooded Ashantis or better put the extremists,still hang on these facts and will never allow an Akyem to lead them moreover,with this King using Osei Tutu as his title,never will an Akyem lead this country.The curse has reflected in many ways politically and traditionalists like Jones Ofori Atta half brother of Akuffo Addos mothers,one touched on that.The family will remain great but can never lead this country.When controversy erupted on enstoolment of Amoatia Ofori Panyin,these issues came up,remember that many of the Ofori Atta line were against the enstoolment of the current Okyehene. Ending i think we must factor in all these dynamics to make our politics enjoyable and african based.
