WASATCH COUNTY AND ESPECIALLY MIDWAY RESIDENTS: PLEASE READ!!! A public hearing is being held on Wednesday, August 13th at 7:00 pm at the old church building next to the community center concerning the property on the south side of Michie Lane which is currently being used as a pasture for cattle. The agenda can be found here: utah.gov/pmn/files/114628.pdf The current owner will be proposing a plan to annex the land into Midway City and rezone it as residential land. A possible subdivision will be developed. For more information about this, please visit: utah.gov/pmn/files/111877.pdf This land has been deemed a wetland by the Army Core of Engineers. Not to mention, it also contains a natural spring and is a migratory path for wildlife. These facts have been confirmed not only by the Army Core of Engineers but also Wildlife Resources and Utah Open Land. We hope to come to an agreement that this land should continue to serve as a buffer between the sanitation ponds and our homes. In addition, the city already has plans in place to go forward with widening Michie Lane from Main Street all the way behind the church and school to Center Street. Michie Lane will be encouraged to be used as a main thoroughfare by motorists. This will greatly impact the current residents in this area, especially those with children who walk/ride bikes to and from school. Opening the road up behind the school poses a major safety concern especially considering the fact that when the road was previously opened there were two attempted child abductions. With the road being an old farm road and still very rural, there are no eyes on the road watching out for the children’s safety. Plus, we all have witnessed the constant problem of motorists speeding on Michie Lane. It would not be safe for our children to walk/ride bikes to and from school alongside these vehicles. The widening of Michie Lane will also impact those who regularly walk their dogs, jog and take walks along Michie Lane. This road will most likely be widened despite these concerns so please bring your ideas on how we can make it safer for the kids and all foot traffic to the table. It is imperative that we attend this public hearing to show our disapproval of these projects. Please show your support and attend. If you are not able to attend, please contact our elected officials and voice your concerns about these possible changes. Thanks, Jen Millet
