WASC would like to encourage our supporters and members to support the fight to save Rockinghams Point Peron from a Marina development which would see many canals and canal homes destroy the areas bushland, petrified ( fossilized) forest, Aboriginal sacred land, kill Lake Richmond and the thrombolites, destroy the last remaining patch of seagrass in Cockburn sound and turn the areas ocean into an acidic nightmare. Point Peron is a particularly sharky spot where you can often see seals and sea lions. Myself and friend Quentin Sutcliffe headed down to the Hands off Point Peron event today to have a look and show our support. I was asked by the MC to make a speech first up and of course being in my home town and being such an issue close to my heart decided to give it a go despite not really being prepared. It was wonderful to see the many people involved and catch up with Lynn Maclaren, Scott Ludlum, Greg Smith, Deanne Moulden and many others. Thank you guys for fighting for Point Peron!
