WASHED IN TIDE by Michaela Hayes This project is temporarily washed away we hope to have it back up in the next month. In WASHED IN TIDE pieces of fabric, dyed in natural pigments are used to surround a Kingsport landmark – half tide rock – located on the beach this piece will be covered, uncovered by, and subjected to the pull of the tide twice a day. These materials and location are used to demonstrate the ever-changing state of nature and how we are inextricably connected to its changes and effects. Michaela Hayes is constantly exploring new means for artistic expression. She is interested in the process of making things by hand and how a relationship between the natural and constructed world influence culture and creativity. Michaela is currently an interdisciplinary student at NSCAD University, with a focus on textiles and photography.
