#WASTEFULVOTES If there is a place where voting is utter #useless is in Gaborone. All the current and present MPs in Gaborone have significantly done nothing in the past years simply because Gaborone is a capital of the Republic of Botswana and hence, the City of Gaborone is bound to run the administrative of the city on behalf of government and other issues will follow. But this extension, Gaborone has to be attractive to the foreign investors hence there is so much infrastructural development that is not even aligned to any individual or constituency needs. On the housing aspects, BHC and Department of Surveys & Mapping have developed most of the housing units in the city. Private property developers have also done their part in terms of commercial, industrial, office & housing properties. The other individual home-owners allocated state land in the city added that on top. The pressure is left for the city of Gaborone and its partner stakeholders to make sure that the city gets top notch infrastructural developments (telephone, roads networks, sewer/wastewater, transport etc). So, I am still to know what advocacy has the MPs in Gaborone really did to develop their constituencies, all the way from Gaborone North, Phakalane, Ledumang, Old Natedi, Block 10, Block 5 etc? I tried to ponder in my head that in my council ward, what really would my area councillor in Block 5 (predominately BHC Housing Units), really advocate for? Okay maybe a police station, but we have something. We have internal tarred roads, shopping and retail & office spaces, Choppies Mall with Jacks Gym, Power, etc....so do we complain about facilities management issues of rubbish collection, parks etc? Then again Gaborones population is forever #nomadic especially the rent tenants. That being said, they are people who have registered to vote in Gaborone who some from areas that have little or developments in their part of Botswana that #really need their VOTE, but they chose an easy target area like GC of which the service demands of my Indian, Nigerian, White neighbours and friends are same as theirs but the latter do not vote. Gaborone developmental modes are pretty much automatic. It will be preposterous to hear a Bonnignton North telling people that I will make sure that residents of my constituency will get jobs at the Diamond polishing companies, BOBS, Botswana Innovation Hub, Debswana Trading Centre as they are in his/her area. Gaborone MPs by extension are just #modified and comprehensive councillors in Parliament. So, when your folks in Tswapong, Ngami, Ngwaketse West, Bobirwa, Chobe etc are complaining about foot & mouth, wild animals, water, electricity, jobs, lack of infrastructural developments(roads, telephones, clinics, schools etc) because they have been promised those 20 years ago, and you know their problems and you are fascinated by voting Dumelang Saleshando, Duma Boko, Keletso Rakhudu...you will still find those problems when you go home in Christmas. Honestly, I am not expecting much from area MP apart from advocating for issues on national interest (economy, education, health,etc). But some MPs really need to advocate of #real problems facing their areas for all the time they will have to be in Parley for the developments to come. I could easily be voting in Masunga, but then realised that in my village we are doing well, but in the constituency (Tati-West), more needs to be done in other villages. But I chose Gaborone Bonnington North and Block 5 (Tloga Tloga Ward). #ValueYourVote
