WATCH: Surprise: A cat on the night prowl in Fla.s Natl Key Deer Refuge in mid-Sept. encounters an animal quite a bit too big for dinner. One of the states most revered predators gives the cat a knee-jerk reminder of the food chain. Camera traps are fantastic tools for researchers to use in the field, while not having to be out there 24/7, Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges Complex says. Remote cameras have a motion and heat-sensing mechanism, which takes pictures or videos when triggered by a live animal moving in front of it.
