WATCHING THE THUNDERSTORM IN THE BARN Good morning facefam! What a wonderful morning. A peek out the back door, shows a newly washed world. It smells clean and fresh, the grass is sparkling in the light from the kitchen window. Ms Maple really appreciated a shower without a hair cut. The Roo is calling from the coop, not willing to get his feet wet. Orion is standing on his head, just above the carport. All is right with the world. Today, Rick and Kate will be taking the biggest steer and two heifers to the sale. Fall culling continues. These are great animals and are serving their purpose. The money will be used for winter hay, some fire wood, and hopefully a two horse trailer. I said my good byes yesterday and thanked them for being such nice bovines. Im sure they will be a great addition to someones herd. Last evening, Kate and I spent some extra time in the barn, loving the inhabitants, and watching the storms roll thru. The roof is tin, so talking was a bit difficult, but who needs to talk. The animals were not a bit afraid, watching calmly as the tree line lit up time and again. They came for scratches and ear rubs, cats for cuddles, and unfortunately, stinky Reuben wanted lovins as well. Showers were required upon returning to the house. I was able to pressure can, 4 quarts and 7 pints of beautiful golden chicken stock, while Kate put the finishing touches on her chicken chili. We finished a stock pot full. Well that includes the quart that is going to paycheck with me. We are getting ready for the classes we will be teaching at Homesteading days this weekend. Rick is getting his wooden ware ready for beekeeping, downloading some information, packing his beesuit and such. Kate is also planning her rabbit processing class, by deciding which animals will be used, collecting coolers and her knives. I have decided we will can apple pie filling and green beans. The apples are courtesy of Erin at Green hill farms. and I hope to get some green beans from Littons Produce and Berries. Ill make the take home goodie bags on friday. After this weekend, I have two full weeks off. No markets, no classes, nothing but dreaming of what to do with all my time. Trust me it will fill up quick enough. Sorry, must toddle on. Paycheck for 8 then home or maybe date night at the stocksale. I wish everyone a peaceful and productive day. Enjoy and as always..... Keep calm and learn on
