WATER HAPPY RESIDENTS Mabvuku, Tafara and Chizhanje are happy to be receiving municipal water. Ms Sophia Dhadhe of number 13 Hunga Rd in Chizhanje was ecstatic. “We had problems with water, but now we are happy. We used to wake up in the middle of the night, sometimes 1am, to go and join the queue. There were endless fights at the borehole as residents jostled for water but now we are safe,” she said. Mrs Chizhaja from the same street said the development had reduced the risk of diseases. “We were using water from unprotected wells dug by individuals in their backyards. We were sometimes chased away. There was always a health risk. Dai zvikaramba zvakadaro. We know it’s not coming everyday but we understand the schedule and we can plan well,” she said. Other residents want water 24/7 to allow the reticulation system to self clean. The city is supplying the area with water four days a week. Mabvuku district officer, Mr Stonard Majogo said the water had brought huge relief to the suburb.
