WATER IS SO VERY PRECIOUS! - The absolute hardest thing to do here during the winter months isnt quite what you think it is. It is not the lugging, carrying, chopping for water from the lake. It is not the pee pot (The Coffee Pot), or the gray water duty. It is not the no vehicle for 8 miles, nor the snowmobiling that distance in all weather, all precipitation, and/or all temperature extremes. It is not the pain staking task of bringing in groceries behind a snowmobile on a tote, nor is it no fresh eggs in the winter time, or store purchased breads, or take-out foods. It is not the shoveling or raking of snow either. It is emptying out GOOD WATER (lake water) from the 18 gallon holding tank under the sink and tossing it outside. Why? cause we top off the water containers when I get more fresh water, so there is always older water, and it is still newer water poured or siphoned into older water. On days like today, after a good hour of consolidating water jugs and pails, there was little chopping of ice off the dock, that I decided to clean the holding tank while the getting of water was easier. I still had to chop the ice and lug the water, yes, but the point is not the physical aspects of the job, but the emotional one instead. I emptied out good water, just older water. May seem very odd to each of you, but here, water is so very precious and worked so very hard to get just a pailful, that to me, it is no less heartfelt than throwing a couple hundred dollar bills in the fire. Difficult to under stand for some, yes....but ....it is what it is here. PRECIOUS!
