WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT Water Safety Credit Valley Conservation 1255 Old Derry Road, Mississauga, ON, L5N 6R4 Telephone: (905) 670-1615 Fax: (905) 670-2210 Issued to: Municipalities, Police, Emergency Services, School Boards, Media, Local Conservation Authorities, CVC Staff and Board Members Date: June 24, 2014 Time: 4:00 P.M. Environment Canada is forecasting a cluster of thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds and heavy rains moving through Southern Ontario this afternoon to late evening. Areas impacted by more than one thunderstorm could receive up to 50 millimetres of precipitation in one hour. While no significant flooding is anticipated, an increase in water levels in watercourses throughout the watershed is expected. Intense precipitation could result in flash flooding in some urban areas. As a result, local streams and rivers may become unsafe, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges and dams. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses and control structures. CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. This Water Safety Statement will be in effect through to Wednesday June 25, 2014 or until further notice.
