WBC tells Pacquiao, Floyd: Sit down and negotiate WBC tells Pacquiao, Floyd: Sit down and negotiate ABS-CBNnews Posted at 11/29/2014 10:56 PM | Updated as of 11/29/2014 10:56 PM MANILA, Philippines – In the wake of the Manny Pacquiaos sensational victory over Chris Algieri, the World Boxing Council (WBC) expressed its support for the long-awaited boxing duel between the Filipino champion and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather is the current WBC welterweight champion and the boxing organization is more than willing to sanction the fight. “The fight the world has been waiting to see, the fight that the world wants to see. The WBC fully supports the promotion of this fight which will certainly break all existing records in many areas,” the WBC said in a statement. Despite the animosity between the boxers’ camps, the WBC believes the super fight can still be arranged just like what happened between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. The WBC said all it takes is for the concerned parties to sit down and negotiate the terms of the bout. “We encourage all parties to sit down and make it happen - just as they did for Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson, which seemed impossible to be put together, but they sat down and made it happen. That fight was aired on pay-per-view on all platforms via Showtime and HBO,” said the boxing organization. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum earlier revealed that there have been backdoor negotiations between television giants CBS and HBO to arrange the highly anticipated showdown. CBS owns Showtime, which holds the rights to broadcast Mayweathers fights. Pacquiao’s fights are aired by HBO. Even Pacquiao made it clear that he wants to face Mayweather next to “give the fans the fight they wanted.” Mayweather, however, kept his silence and instead posted an Instagram video showing the Filipino’s defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez. The video was considered a rebuke against Pacquiao’s callout on Mayweather.abs-cbnnews/sports/11/29/14/wbc-tells-pacquiao-floyd-sit-down-and-negotiate
