WCCW Recap 06.22.2013 WCCW Reporter Scott Diamond started the show with a ten bell salute to Joe Bailey. Nate Cross came to the ring to start the show and had something to get off his chest; he had called Diamond earlier in the week and he wanted to invoke one of his contract clauses tonight. Cross wanted to “drop” the USA Championship in order to go after the WCCW Championship and Diamond allowed it, which left the USA Championship vacant. Since Cross called Diamond earlier in the week, he already had the answer to take care of the vacant title situation. June 29th will see a gauntlet match with the winner becoming the new USA Champion. The first two wrestlers to start the match will be Purple Haze and Brandon Taggart; once there is a winner, they will move on to a match with Chris Majors and the winner of that match will take on Wild Bill Rich! Ironman Cody Matthews came out and was a little annoyed since he has ran through every wrestler that WCCW has thrown at him and he wanted a real wrestler to come out and give him an actual challenge- Bob Murdoch answered the call. IRONMAN CODY MATTHEWS VS BOB MURDOCH Bob Murdoch got a couple punches in and then went for the Ego Trip, which Matthews reversed and quickly rolled out of the ring. Once he was back in the ring, the two wrestlers stood face to face in the middle of the ring, which didn’t last long when Matthews slapped Murdoch, he then returned the gesture. Matthews again got out of the ring, complaining that Murdoch was cheating, however, he beat the 10 count and immediately started working the left arm of Murdoch, softening it up for an arm bar and it didn’t take long for him to lock it and then he refused to let it go again and was disqualified. Matthews caught Murdoch outside of the ring and put the arm bar back on but released it only to take Scott Diamond to the concrete in an arm bar as well. Security got Matthews off of Diamond and he went back to the locker room, but Diamond was clearly hurt. WINNER – BOB MURDOCH VIA DISQUALIFICATION The next match was more of an old fashioned beat down than a wrestling match. BILLY RENEGADE VS JEREMY BRAKE Billy Renegade came out talking a lot of trash but it was clear that he didn’t have much of a chance against Jeremy Brake. While Renegade got a couple of punches in, he really didn’t get any type of wrestling move in and Brake just beat him all over the ring, so much that Renegade couldn’t even stand up and was carried to the locker room. WINNER – JEREMY BRAKE The next match wouldn’t have sounded like much of a match just a few weeks ago, but after the roll Brandon Taggart has been on, it promised to be one of the highlights of the night. BRANDON TAGGART VS PURPLE HAZE Taggart beat the WCCW Champion two weeks ago and then last week went toe to toe with him again in one of the best matches of his career and he proved himself again in the ring with a former WCCW Champion. Taggart took control early and seemed very focused and ready to move up to the next level, however, Purple Haze is a great veteran and wasn’t about to lay down for anyone. Haze fought back, however, he went flying through the air and Brandon Taggart caught him in mid air and dropped him onto his knee, crushing the ribs of Haze. Taggart continued impressing against Haze, however Haze knows exactly how to compensate for a size disadvantage and quickly took out Taggarts knee and continued to keep him on the mat. Taggart still fought back, even taking the match to the outside of the ring, but in the end, Haze had the experience to get the win and slow down Taggarts momentum. WINNER – PURPLE HAZE Scott Diamond came back out to the ring, with his shoulder iced up and he was clearly way past angry. He said that next week, he would be bringing Donnie Green to WCCW to take care of the Cody Matthews issues. Next week, June 29th is the huge Hall of Fame show and Diamond announced that Miss Linda would also be a member of the 2013 class! Diamond then introduces another member of the first Hall of Fame class- Tommy Green. Green came out to thank the fans but he also had a message for his niece, Lexxi so Black Rain and Lexxi came to the ring. Green explained that Lexxi was brainwashed by Rain and she needed to come to her senses, however, Rain explained how Lexxi was shunned by her family and was not apart of The Voice and that was the only family she needed. Black Rain said that he was the new school of wrestling and it was time for the old school of wrestling to go ahead and die and get it over with and then challenged Green to a match next week between new school and old school. Rain then told him to get out of his ring so he could take care of some business. BLACK RAIN VS BRIAN LAWLESS Black Rain took control early and it didn’t take long for Lexxi to get a few shots in either, however, Lawless got a burst of energy and showed that he wasn’t going to be just another easy victory for Rain. Black Rain had Lawless in a submission hold and while the ref was making sure Lawless wasn’t giving up, Rain took advantage of the ref being in a bad position and literally started biting Lawless’s fingers and got away with it several times before the ref made him break the hold. At one point, it looked as if Lawless would get a quick victory over one half of the WCCW Tag Team Champions but Black Rain reversed and then Lexxi ran into the ring and attacked Lawless. Lexxi and Rain attacked Lawless and sent him to the concrete but Tommy Green came out and The Voice quickly cleared the ring. It seems that during the match, Green got a better idea than just a simple Rain VS Green match next week. He requested that Diamond sign a match between Black Rain/The Butcher/Lexxi VS Tommy Green/Kyd Mack/Terrific Terry Allen! Black Rain didn’t seem too up for the match but Diamond said he would make it happen. WINNER – BRIAN LAWLESS VIA DISQUALIFICIATON The next match was the first match in the journey for Nate Cross to get his WCCW Championship title shot. NATE CROSS VS TJ LIGHTNING The match started off with a little strutting competition and Nate Cross made it a point to explain that his physique was strictly due to hard work in the gym. Nate Cross controlled most of the match and showed the WCCW fans that he was serious about wanting a shot at the championship and proving that dropping his USA Championship belt was the right choice to make. These two were inside and outside of the ring and it looked like it may be an easy win for Cross, however TJ Lightning is known for flying and he didn’t disappoint. TJ went to the top rope and came flying across the ring and took control of the match and sent Cross to the concrete outside of the ring, however, the impact stunned TJ as well. Cross was on the concrete and TJ was trying to recover when ATM came out and attacked him and explained that he hasn’t forgotten their disagreements over the last few weeks and told him that he wanted a shot at the KY Championship next week. WINNER – TJ LIGHTNING VIA DISQUALIFICATION The next match was finally ATM’s chance at the WCCW Champion! ATM VS ALEX ANGEL ATM came to ring with Ravishing Ronnie Roberts which would come into play later during the match. The match started with a little “private parts” attack with ATM getting the worst end of that situation and ending up falling from the top rope to the concrete. ATM took awhile to get back into the ring but quickly went on the attack by tripping Angel and then hitting a DDT and while ATM had the ref’s attention, Roberts took advantage by choking Angel while he was recovering in the corner. Angel is the WCCW Champion for a reason and it didn’t take long for him to recover, however, he went to the top rope and made a mistake by taking too long and ATM capitalized by knocking him off the corner, however Angel responded with a huge spin buster, knocking the wind out of ATM. Angel was looking to end the match and picked ATM up in his finisher, Go To Hell, however ATM reversed it and sent Angel outside of the ring, where he came face to face with Roberts. While these two were face to face, ATM slid through the ropes and kicked Angel into Roberts, which caused even bigger issues between those two. Angel and Roberts were arguing outside of the ring while ATM brought a chair into the ring and was just waiting to nail Angel with it; however, that never happened. TJ Lightning returned the favor and attacked ATM from behind causing Angel to lose the match; however, the bigger story was what was left in the ring once the smoke cleared. Ravishing Ronnie Roberts had the WCCW Championship belt, he cleaned it and walked over to Angel who was standing in the ring. He went face to face with Angel and then laid the belt in the middle of the ring and told Angel that he was coming for him next week! WINNER – ATM VIA DISQUALIFICATION Next week is the huge Hall of Fame show, along with a huge event before the show with WCCW stars signing autographs, girls in bikinis washing cars and even prizes! After the Hall of Fame ceremony, stay around for one of the biggest WCCW shows including the WCCW Championship match between Ravishing Ronnie Roberts and Alex Angel, as well as Larry D VS Nate Cross, ATM VS TJ Lightning, Cody Matthews VS Donnie Green and the huge Old School VS New School match!!
