WCHC Prepares For Review The Department of Health and WCHC Board held a meeting at the ESA Hotel on Monday, September 16, 2013, where they discussed the schedule of a visit to Yap by Human Resource and Services Administration (HRSA),U.S. This group will be conducting a three-day (September 18 to the 20th) HRSA Operational Assessment of the Wa’ab Community Health Center (WCHC). The four-member team from the U.S. is on island to begin collaborating with the Department of Health Services and the WCHC to assess the operation of the WCHC Programs on Yap Main Island. The Review Team is comprised of Team Leader, Ms. Debra Olesen, MSHA, CDR Robert A. Windom, USPHS, Leo Fishel, MD, and Charles Hostetter, MD. The group arrived in Yap via Guam on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. The group will review and assess the Key Community Health Center Program Requirements. The team will be looking into three areas: Administration/Governance, Fiscal Matters or Financial and Clinical or patients services. The assessment team will spend three days to have a complete review and assessment of all the WCHC health programs in order to determine whether the WCHC is still meeting all Health Center’s program requirements in delivering services to the people of Yap. The assessment review team held its first meeting in Yap at noon on Wednesday by paying a courtesy visit with Mr. James Gilmar, Director of the Department of Health services, Mr. John Gilmatam, Chief Executive Officer for WCHC, and key and support staff at the State Hospital conference room and move on and start their program assessment right after this meeting. As a part of the assessment the team members will visit the WCHC Sites in Gagil and Tomil municipalities follow up by meeting with Director of Administrative Services, Maria Laaw and Chief of Finance, Robert Fathal. The team will spend time reviewing WCHC documents that are required by the Community Health Center program (CHC) The medical team will continue reviewing the health programs in Yap until Friday, September 20, 2013 before departing from Yap on the 22nd of September 2013.
