WE ARE ALL GOD’S CHILDREN: “This is what Sto. Nino tells us.” –Pope Francis. QUIRINO GRANDSTAND, LUNETA PARK, Manila, Philippines People knew the pope’s final mass scheduled in the afternoon, thousands of people built up in front of the Apostolic Nunciature and on the motorcade route to the Quirinio Grandstand in Luneta Park. His convoy left the nunciature at 2:15pm and traveled slowly with the pope clad in yellow polyethylene raincoat waved to the crowds, estimated to be about 1 million, left and right taking pictures and videos of the smiling pontiff. Instead of going straight to the Quirino Grandstand, the pope’ mobile went around twice the 12 quadrants of people estimated to be about 6 million people, all shouting “Papa Francesco, Mahal ng Filipino!” while raising images of Sto. Nino up and down and dancing Sinulog taught to them in the morning by Sinulog dancers from Cebu, and same as what happened in the morning, babies that his Swiss guards could saw in the huge crowds were all brought to the pope, which he obligedly blessed, hugged and kissed. When the pope’s convoy arrived in Luneta, there were three firsts: he has an audience of 6 million people, which is 1 million people more than Pope John Paul’s audience back in 1995, it was raining, and the pope has to wear a yellow raincoat. The Luneta Grandstand was filled with a 1,000 member strong choir and 200 member strong orchestra; while the CBCP published some 2,4 mi8llion copies of the Sambuhay Misalette Booklets and prepared million. The First Reading from Isaiah, was read by a blind lady using the Braile system; Mr. Eric Santos sung the Responsorial psalm, Psalm 97. From Gospel of Mark 10: 13-16, the pope opened up his homily, “We are all God’s children.” “All of us are God’s children. This is what Sto. Nino tells us. We are all brothers and sisters. God blessed us for a purpose. He chose us to be witnesses of this truth. We are called to be outstanding missionaries in Asia. We forget to remain focus make things that really matter. Family should be protected against insidious attacks. Sto. Nino is important. He speaks powerfully for all of us. He reminds us of deepest identity of what we are called to be God’s family. We too need to protect and guide our young people. May the Sto. Nino continues to bless the Philippines. And don’t forget to pray for me.” – Pope Francis. Words of Gratitude from Cardinal Luis Antonio ”Chito” Cardinal Tagle: “Pope Francis, your love is typhoon-proof. You are a sunshine; you brought us awesome sunshine to last a lifetime. You brought us joy; you brought us hope, and you brought us Jesus. With the choir singing Tell The World of His Love, “Candle Ligthing and Mission Sending ensued while the people chanted anew “Papa Francesco, Mahal ka ng Fililipino! While waving white handkerchiefs also, the pope in his Fililipino Jeep inspired pope mobile moved again to all the quadrants to meet the people for the third round and then exited toward Roxas Boulevard and back to the same motorcade route to the Apostolic Nunciature still filled with a new set of 1 million people, although now some of them were already wet and feeling cold under the intermittent rains, they waited and preferred to wait patiently for the pope to pass by to have a last glimpse of him. – The Night Stalker The mass ended at the time the sun was setting in Manila Bay, people say “the most beautiful sunset in the world.” 18 January 2015, THREE DAYS AFTER POPE FRANCIS, PONTEFIX, the “Builder of Bridges, ””THE PEOPLES’POPE” ARRIVED FOR PASTORAL VISIT IN MANILA: The 4th Manifestation of the Lord since Christmas Day, December 25, 2014 – the Lord appearing before the Filipino people! POPE FRANCIS THANK YOU SA MALASAKIT! (#POPETYSM):“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). AN OPEN BOOK: “You are an epistle of Christ” (2 Corinthians 3:3). “Kapag nakikta ko siya; ng makita ko siya sa mga ginagawa at ginawa na niya, si Pope Francis, pakiramdam ko parang nakita ko ang Diyos, si Hesukristo. Many times I heard and read this sentiment from some people of varied walks of life. The pope’s many encounters with the Filipino people, revealing his consistent messages about mercy and compassion to Jesus’ “least of His brothers and sisters”left an indelible mark in the hearts of many, known the world-over for his humility and simpleness, truly a grace of consolacion and affirmation from God sent to us the pope, Pope Francis, the Vicar of the Lord on earth. The life story of this charismatic pope is an “open book.” Because I did some writings on my Facebook page, occasionally, a friend will say to me “I want to write a book someday.” “That’s a worthy goal.” I reply, “and I hope you do write a book. But it’s better to be one than to write one.” Thinking of the apostle Paul’s words: “Clearly you are an epistle of Christ. . .written not with ink but by the spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart” (2 Corinthians 3:3). In his book, The Practice of Piety. Lewis Bayly, chaplain to England’s King James I said that “one who hopes to effect any good by his writings” will find that he will “instruct very few. . .The most powerful means therefore, of promoting what is good is by example. . .One man in a thousand can write a book to instruct his neighbors. . .But every man can be a pattern for living of excellence to those around him like Jesus and his Vicar on Earth, the pope, now Pope Francis. The work that Christ is doing in believers can result in an influence far greater than any book they might write. Through God’s Word, written, “on their hearts” (Jeremiah 31:33), the Lord is displaying His love and goodness for all to see. As a Christian, we may write a book, but by living for God we will be one for sure! We will be an open book, an “epistle of Christ.” For all to read. IF SOMEONE WERE TO READ OUR LIFE LIKE A BOOK, WOULD THEY FOUND JESUS IN ITS PAGES? – David Roper, odb.org/The Night Stalker BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) “OUR FIRST PRIORITY MUST ALWAYS BE OBEDIENCE TO GOD” PRAY for guidance from the Holy Spirit. Prayer: Father, speak to me. I wish to receive your Word into my heart. Send forth your spirit to me. Reveal your face to me today. Amen. Alleluia, alleluia! The Word of God is living and effective; discerning reflections and thoughts of the heart. Alleluia, alleluia! BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) “IMPACT OF GOSPEL UPON OUR SOCIETY:”The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom, a light has shown” (Isaiah 9:1-6). 1ST READING: ISAIAH 9:1-6 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom, a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing, as they rejoice before you as at the harvest as men make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened them, the pole on their shoulder, and the rod of their taskmaster you have smashed on the day of Midian. For every boot that tramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will be burned as fuel for flames. For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him: Wonder- Counsellor, God-hero, Father-forever, Prince of Peace, His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, from David’s throne and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice, both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!” REFLECTIONS- “One of the challenges facing Christians today is ensuring that the Gospel has an impact upon our society. For this to happen, it will require each of us to approach the full teachings of the Church and live it. If we fail to do this, the Gospel or the Good News will remain as an unrealized offer to us. We need to be committed practicing the Gospel truths.” BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) “VICTORY OF OUR GOD:”All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of God.” (Psalm 98:1-6) PSALM 98:1-6 All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. “Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done wondrous deeds; his right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm, The LORD has made his salvation known in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice He has remembered his kindness and faithfulness toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of God. Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; break into song; sing praise. Sing praise to the LORD with the harp and melodious song. With trumpets and the sound of horn, sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.” BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) “HE CHOSE US:” . . .In love, he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will” (Ephesians 1:3-18). 2ND READING: EPHESIANS 1:3-18 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who had blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessings in heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love, he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved. Then, I, too, hearing your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the holy ones, do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him. May the eyes of [your] hearts be enlightened that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones. REFLECTIONS- “Paul wants the Ephesians to allow the Holy Spirit greater freedom in their lives. so that they will more fully reflect the Gospel to those who have not yet accepted it. Devotional practices in the Church are good, but they need to go beyond set prayers. And impel us to act as community for the betterment of society and the lives of others.” BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME:“. . Truly I say to you, whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter into it” (Mark 10:13-16). (In all of the pope’s encounters with our kababayans in Manila and Tacloban, children were of prime importance to him; his Swiss Guards trained with their eagle eyes to find, locate them and bring them the children from among the midst of the multitude, which he will carry, to, embrace, hug, kiss and bless – an experience the children and their parents will never forget in their lifetime. – The Night Stalker GOSPEL: MARK10:13-16 “People were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me, do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I say to you, whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter into it.” Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them. “ REFLECTIONS- “No one is excluded from having a role in the proclamation of the Gospel. It does not matter how young we may be. God can use us to make known the truth of His love and mercy. All we have to do is to remain open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and ready ourselves to be obedient when He calls! Our first priority must always be obedience to God. Without this, we will not prosper – at least not in storing treasures for eternal life.” READ THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: God’s special verse/thought for me today- LUKE 17-18 REFLECTIONS- THINK: “We need to be committed to practicing Gospel truths.” PRAY AGAIN-Thank the Lord for His message to you and pray that you may be able to live it out in your daily life. PRAYER: Father, I thank you. Your word is manna to my spirit. May your Word that I received today transform my soul. Make me more like you. Amen. COMPANION – A Catholic Scripture Diary/Bro. Long before we first heard of Christ. . . he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out for everything and everyone” (Ephesians 1:11). BIBLIARASAL –“BETHEL” (18 January 2015 Sunday) “BECOMING GOD’S BEST FRIEND THROUGH CONTINUAL MEDITATION: VALUE GOD’S WORD ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE” When we think about a problem over and over in our mind, that is called worry. When we think about God’s Word over and over again, that’s meditation. If we know how to worry, we already know how to meditate! We just need to switch our attention from problems to Bible verses. The more we meditate on God’s Word, the less we will have to worry about. The reason God considered Job and David His close friends was that they valued His Word above everything else, and they thought about it continually throughout the day. Job admitted, I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. David said, Oh how Ilove your law! I meditate on it all day long. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about them.“ Friends share secrets, and God will share His secrets with us if we develop the habit of thinking about His Word throughout the day. God told Abraham His secrets, and He did the same with Daniel, Paul, the disciples, and other friends. ”ALL FOR THE GREATER GLORY OF GOD!
