WE ARE WORKERS, WE ARE NOT SLAVES! Increase the Minimum Allowable Wage of FDWs to HK$4,500! Increase the minimum food allowance of FDWs to HK$1,600! Include the FDWs in the statutory minimum wage regime! Ratify the ILO Convention No.189 (Decent Work for Domestic Workers)! What: PICKET PROTEST When: 14 August 2014, Thursday, 9:30 AM Where: Labour Department Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central Dear friends, The Labour Department will be holding a consultation meeting with the different foreign domestic workers (FDWs) associations, unions and NGOs tomorrow at 10:00 AM. This they said is part of the annual review process of the Minimum Allowable Wage (MAW) for FDWs. To reiterate our demands to the Hong Kong government and to make the public aware of such demands, members of the Asian Migrants’ Coordinating Body (AMCB-IMA) holding a short picket protest at the main entrance of the Harbour Building where the Labour Department is located – just before our representatives proceed to attend the consultation meeting.
