WE ,AT HOME, are closely watching the political development ever since the communist Party of Nepal(Maoist) started the armed rebellion some 18 years ago in 1995 A.D.Lack of stable government frequented by intra-party betrayal and party split to get to the power,coalition government headed by ultra rightist to democratic to leftists leaders,rampant corruption and misuse of state coffer, politicization of bureaucracy to security organisations did not allow the Nepalese society to take its natural pace to move ahead towards prosperity which gave birth to widespread disenchantment against the leaders and the system itself. the pervasive social injustice,inequality, overexploitation, unemployment, poverty and the feudal mentality of the rulers and the handful of rich section of the society added fuel to the armed struggle to end the all form of injustices and inequalities which ended up with the 12 point agreement between Seven political parties and the the rebels. what were the 12 points agreement? How are the political developments moving ahead? How have internal and external forces been playing to safeguard their interests and to materialize the peoples aspiration of peace and prosperity? WHY are political parties hesitating to forge a national consensus and work together for the minimum common programmes to provide even a little relief to the poverty stricken people? The political agendas like federalism, the right to self determination, republicanism,secularism, ethnicity and racisms and regionalisms are tough issues requiring extensive and comprehensive discussions and analysis among all the people.What can be the long term effect and damage in the entire national life ? What level of honesty, integrity and will power in the leaderships have been realized by the people? Are they consistent in their words and actions? In the CA2 election too,no new faces appeared despite the changes in the power equation. With the same brain, inefficiency ,weak will powerand blunt mind,how can they resolve the most complicated issues like federalism,secularism,republicanism,social and political justice to the marginalised and under priviledged and so on and so forth. we had expected the creativity of the long ruling leaders butin vain- we found them totally goood for nothing,rusted,dysfunctional,totally lost in luxury and lust.yet it is is an irony they were again reelected.this is the bitter truth we are compelled to accept.you can do nothing except HOPE. THERE is only hopein this world left which helps people to get on with life.
