WE CANT KEEP CHASING BODY BAGS... Weve gotta get in front of this thing in a more aggressive, far more strategic and PROACTIVE manner. And we have to STAY the course. Silence the self-praise, question what were doing here, and take a serious look at where we are as ONE DELAWARE community. There is a tragic normalcy and complacency in: - a public education system thats been failing literally for generations - an incarceration rate in Delaware thats the highest in the entire world - politicians who support counterproductive legislation and approach positive change with no urgency whatsoever - media outlets that provide a soundtrack and images of death and destruction - the structural, institutional and individual racism that breeds the gross racial inequalities Delaware - literally MILLIONS of youth and family program dollars funded to top-heavy non-profits, 6 figure salaries and low impact programs with no accountability Lets unite and focus as a community. Stop blaming our youth and take some responsibility for our children. Protect them. Advocate for them. Fight for them. RAISE them. Engage our youth... They didnt get here on their own but they are here ON OUR WATCH! And they need some real opportunities, some genuine love, a serious investment into their lives! Lets stop pretending... What good is a perfectly staged photo opp when the real picture is so bleek? To all the youth, artists, leaders, fellow gen-exers, and everyday people working to make a difference; THANK YOU. STAY ENCOURAGED. KEEP GOING!!! Advocate for more resources to develop creative outlets for our youth. Get to know the politicians who represent us. Remember, we do NOT live in a Democracy, but rather a Republic. Educate yourself and your peers on what matters. Lets develop a collective agenda. And be vocal about the things we will not stand for. Show up where it matters, not the evening time Rodney Square rally but at LEGISLATIVE HALL during the day when the decisions that impact us are made! Participate with schools (Ferris) and agencies to mentor, share your story, make a genuine, long-term connection with AT LEAST THREE kids. Help connect someone to a job readiness resource. Support and DEMAND justice and equity in OUR neighborhoods. Lets stop looking for others to support us and support each other! We have to work together on this.... Together, WE are the village
