WE DETERMINE WHAT OUR TOMORROW WILL LOOK LIKE People are giving birth to by different parents. Some people where born in the ghetto, some in one of the best hospitals in town, others inside the cars, some on the road/street, few at the market place, some at home and in the religious home (like my divine twins who were born on a sand floor at the entrance of our house and in the premise of a church respectively). That is why we should all be grateful and thankful to God for the kind of parents we have, even if they both or either of them possess(es) bad or good character/attitude towards his/her children. At least, that night sleep that formed our existence is enough reason to thank and often appreciating them for. They are some or either of the parents who will decide to abort the infant from womb. We crawled and walked under their supervision through the abundant grace and mercy of GOD. We went to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions under God’s banner of LOVE, GUIDANCE and PROTECTION. Some parents may die after few years and they would be survived by many children (May the LORD touch the heart of the affected fellows). It is, therefore, advisable for everyone to live as if he/she has no parent. Our main parent who will never die is GOD. Look up to Him and wait to enjoy the fruit of your labour. It is a phenomena process in Nigeria as thousands of graduates will finish their programmes in various tertiary institutions without getting better and pleasant jobs. This cut across other countries not only in Nigeria. Unemployment is, therefore, a global challenge. Some graduates will be luck to secure better job offers after their one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Many people will apply for job opportunities but only few will be recruited. Sometime ago, an organization was seeking for 500 qualified, vibrant and intelligent applicants. Over 60,000 applicants applied online. Those who are selected should be thanking and praising God for that great opportunity because they are not the best applicants. Some best applicants may be disqualified or not even selected when shortlisting. As time goes, the employed graduates will be earning huge salaries as they will put behind them all the difficult and stress of the past. They will start clubbing and associating with big babies in town. I am not saying meeting and connecting with people is bad but when you spend money recklessly without any form of increase in return; it means the person is running an effortless life. Whereas when one is unemployed, he/she will not miss any service in the Church/Mosque and who keep disturbing the man of God for prayer, breakthrough and upliftment. But the moment his/her prayer has been answered; his/her attitude/character towards God will gradually change and the opposite being will take over the affairs of his/her life. Let me share a few testimonies with you. Every first Sunday of the month, before I and other siblings got married, our father usually had meeting with his immediate family. He told us how he came to Lagos and what prompted him to. As he was sharing his life experience, he would be pointing at the First Aid Box, kept under his table, which he used to pack all his clothes when leaving his village for the city. He said to us, “I was not born by rich parents but I was determined not to remain poor like them.” He tried all he could and ensured he succeeded and achieved this aim in life. Today, he builds and lives in his house in Lagos as far back as over 30 years. There are many parents who have equally achieved more than him and I am proud of them all. In early 1970s, he said his company paid all employees their accumulated allowances at a glance. As a result, some staff went to buy cars; some relocated from their small apartments to bigger places. Some staff married more wives and chased their previous wives away as they could not cope living with the new wives (AFRICAN MENTALITY). Some were made Chairmen and Chairpersons of different clubs and associations. He said, when he remembered his upbringing, he decided to use his money wisely and God helped him. He started a business and ignored all flashing possessions and the show-yourself life style of other colleagues. That was why his family remained in a small apartment until he finished building his own house. He kept the secret to himself and his family. He told us about some colleagues who were paid huge sum of money which could build many houses in Lagos but they chose to go to parties with friends and assorted babies (A RECKLESS LIFE WITHOUT COMPASS). This was one of his testimonies that always touched and amazed me most. In fact, they are the prodigal son’s siblings. The day we were packing for relocation, neighbours thought we were leaving for a rented and bigger apartment but they were surprised when they heard that we were relocating to our own house. They could not believe it. BE YOURSELF AND DON’T LIVE A LIFE OF SHOW-YOURSELF. My father was not with his parents when he made that decision of sending his huge money on an errand to yield more increase. He said, he would be forever being grateful to God who helped him not to join other friends and colleagues who thought he was very stingy and not sociable. Where are the cars now? Where are the assorted and skimpy babies? Where are the clubs and associations representatives and leaders? The best car now will not be among the best cars in the next few months. This is the reality of life. However, if one like let him behaves well in the society. One good turn deserves another. Whatever you plant, you shall reap. If he chooses not to decent business and engage in dubious activities or in other form of malicious deals; nemesis will catch up with you and you may be sentenced to any of these - serve many years in prison; life imprisonment; death by hanging or facing a firing squad. If one chooses to behave himself and live a moderate life without comparing himself with fellow beings - the better for him. I used to say that man is his backbones of his failure. Someone, who chooses not to read his books when other study-mates are reading theirs, will end up being a dropout. What grade do you think such person will get if not dropout? And if he bribes his way, how will he proofs his competence during oral and written tests? And if he scales through, it will surely reflect in his character or attitude at work. A person, who does not go for vocational trainings while his mates are enjoying same programme, will surely end up be a callous being for the society. So, who are you to blame? Endeavour to face your life with reality. Stop criticizing or blaming the government, religious leaders, parents, friends and siblings. You choose to behave the way you wish. If you go to school and study well to get good grade or enroll in vocational trainings to learn basic skills the better for you. Opportunity can come anytime and you will rejoice and be glad at last. No doubt, there are spiritual forces but devil cannot operate without you. You must learn to keep secret to yourself. How do you tell devil your motives? Devil is like a man. He lives within our environment and listens to everything. The moment he sees you changing cars, he does not need anybody to tell him that your life has been changed and transformed. He checks on you daily and sees how beautiful your apartment is. That is why you need to be prayerful and often fast when things are becoming good for you. How do you silence devil from knowing your secrets? Keep him at suspense and always do what all eyes cannot see/notice until after you have succeeded doing them. Such as: building a house, engage in a business, visa for a trip to oversee, qualification improvement etc. God gives us two ears and one mouth because He expected us to listen more and talk less. Listen here means observe the environment to discover the type of business that people will patronize and engage in such business. Talk less here means, you should learn to keep the secret and do not inform any of your friends about your plan until you are through. Finally, if you like serve and love God. He already has many Angels in Heaven worshiping and serving Him (Revelation 4:10-11). Therefore, we go to religious home for our own interesting for either to be for God or devil. Our service does not make God fat, tall, short, bless, fruitful, transform etc. We are the one who need all these to enjoy a better life on earth and reign with Him on the last day. Who desires upliftment, promotion, protection, guidance, and safety of properties? Is it God or humane? If we like, we serve and worship Him. You assist people for you to be assisted. There is always a reward of every action (either bad or good) we take on this earth. So, WHAT IS YOUR TOMORROW GOING TO LOOK LIKE? I am wishing everyone a rewarding and remarkable future. Thank you.
