WE DID NOT WRITE THIS ,WE WERE ASKED BY AN ANGLER IF WE WOULD PUT IT AS A MAIN POST ON HIS BEHALF AND AFTER READING IT WE WERE OF COURSE WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO OBLIGE AND TO SAY TO HIM AND ALL OF YOU THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP. Congratulations to “No State Rod Licence in Ireland” for reaching 100 posts on the site. Each of these individual posts have been enlightening, informative and more importantly, factual. They have highlighted the quango that is the IFI-ACI-SSTRAI where jobs for the boys is all that counts. Thankfully, angling clubs in Munster have seen SSTRAI for what they really are and will never again affiliate to them. This page has highlighted to all anglers the draconian proposals that were to be rushed through the Dáil imposing compulsory charges on anglers. Thankfully, as the ex Minister is aware, the genuine anglers of Ireland will never be forced into something that is against their rights as Irish citizens. It has highlighted the gill netting on Lough Ree, the bully boy tactics of the IFI on the Gweebarra River in Co-Donegal and the poaching of Salmon on the Owenagarney River in Co-Clare. Interesting to note that either directly or indirectly, the IFI are the main contributors to each of the above. They carried out the netting on Lough Ree, their employees allegedly assaulted anglers on the Gweebarra, and they decided that the Owenagarney river did not have a sustainable salmon run until this year and we can all see the results of keeping anglers off the river. Since the first post was uploaded, there have been numerous comments posted by others, the vast majority of which have been in favour of the facebook page and what it stands for. There have also been comments by individuals who don’t care what this page is about, their only concern was to find out who was running the page. Interesting to see that a lot of these derogatory comments have been removed by their authors! To those that run this page, heres to the next 100 posts of accurate information that the genuine anglers of Ireland appreciate. As 1 regular contributor said, we may have won a battle against the compulsory charge, but the war is not yet won.
