WE HAVE A DEAL-The County Government through the Ministry of Agriculture led by Wambu Miano has negotiated a deal that will see our banana farmers sell 10 Tonnes of the crop daily and earning them handsome returns. Collection centres will be in every ward and the plan is to increase the bananas to 20 Tonnes per day. This important development is a result of a lot of background work that included ripening and selling the bananas in an up market super market in Nairobi on a trial basis. The bananas were well received by the customers. Based on the successful trials we were now able to supply the bananas in this new partnership. This initiative is among several undertakings that we are engaged in to ensure farmers get a market for the produce and will prices that will put a smile on their faces. We urge the farmers to observe high standards of crop husbandry to ensure high quality and hence better prices. We urge them to work closely with our officers in the field and ensure they get timely advice.
