WE HAVE COME TO A DECISION! Thanks to your input, we have decided to show BOTH the subtitled Japanese language version AND the English dubbed version of Studio Ghiblis new masterwork, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. We will show the ORIGINAL Japanese language version with English subtitles on SATURDAY 2/7 at 11:30 AM Then on SUNDAY 2/8 at 11:30 AM, we will show the English language version, featuring an all-star English-speaking cast that includes Chloë Grace Moretz, James Caan, and Lucy Liu. Normally, when we book foreign films for our Family Matinee series, we only schedule English language versions. While we strongly believe films should be seen in their native language, as their directors intended, we also want our 11:30 AM series to be as family friendly as possible. HOWEVER - this film is a unique circumstance. Our matinee screening serves as the BUFFALO PREMIERE of one of this years most highly lauded films, animated or otherwise. As such, we have a responsibility to Buffalos cinephiles and its anime loving community to dedicate one showing to the ORIGINAL Japanese language version of KAGUYA - the one signed off on by Grave of The Fireflies Movie director Isao Takahata. We hope our audience finds this compromise acceptable! Whichever version you choose to see, we are confident you will be swept away by Joe Hisaishi beautiful score and Studio Ghiblis brilliant visuals. This is not a film that relies on its script to tell the story...
