WE LOOK AT THINGS DIFFERENTLY What is a credit Union? A Credit Union is a financial co-operative that provides savings and loan facilities for the benefit of its members. As a co-operative, it is owned and controlled by its members, regardless of how much or how little they have saved (a member must be aged 16 or over). What is the difference? Each Credit Union is an independent, ‘not for-profit’ organisation that exists solely for the benefit of its members. Decisions are made at a local level. As a member you are a shareholder with one vote. Member savings provide the money to lend to other members. The more savings you have, the more shares you have. What do Credit Unions offer? Specific services and rates may vary between credit unions, depending on members’ needs, but most credit unions offer the following:- SAVINGS, LOANS AND INSURANCE. For People. Not for Profit - Since the first credit union was formed in Ireland in 1958, the idea of offering financial services on a not-for-profit, member owned basis has proven very popular. Today, almost every community, and many work places, has benefited from this commitment. Call into us today, we are located in the Square, Kilcock, or visit us kilcu.ie to find out more!
