WE NEED TO BE SERIOUS IN THIS COUNTRY! Let me tell you how much we lack seriousness in this country. In a country where budgeting is as difficult as rocket science, you would think we will invest in the basic software/technology to improve the process. NO! We sat down for (i).World Bank (ii). DFID of UK (iii). European Commission-EU (iv). Danish International Development Agency-DANIDA. to fund a financial management system for us. So this country couldnt create a simple financial management software? This is what smart Ghanaian programmers do for fun. We couldnt put these guys together to create a simple financial management system! Yet the president is out there touting GIFMIS (Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System cagd.gov.gh/gifmis/) as a homegrown solution. SMH. A bank in Ghana outsourced a similar financial management and tracking software to IBM for millions of dollars. WHEN SOMEONE HAS TO GIVE YOU A TOOL, TO MANAGE HOW YOU USE YOUR MONEY, IT IS A CLEAR SIGN THAT YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS.
