WE NEED YOUR HELP. For those residents that attended the meeting given by the 21st District leaders on Thursday, you are aware of the upcoming vote on the 2 landfills purposed in our surrounding areas. For those that aren’t aware, we need your help in voting FOR (in favor of) Bill No. 21-14. As a bit of information - The two landfills, (Tolson/Cunningham and Chesapeake Terrace), if they open, will bring an estimated hundreds of truckloads of construction rubble daily down Route Three and Patuxent Road. Moreover, after the BGE fly ash contamination nearby, the last thing we need is more water contaminants. In February 2012, the POCA Board of Directors adopted a motion to oppose development of these landfills, and Board president at the time Jeff Andrade provided very effective testimony to the County and they delayed any movement. The position of the POCA Board of Directors has not changed in respect to this issue, through multiple board elections. We need your help to stop these landfills. On Monday night, June 2nd, the County Council will vote on Councilmembers Benoit and Trumaurers proposal to BAN landfills from residential areas. The legislators at the State and County level have reached out to us and asked for the community’s support in getting this bill to pass. We need your help and urge you to take a few minutes to voice your opinions against the landfills: 1. If you havent yet, please take a moment to click here and sign our petition. change.org/petitions/john-j-grasso-chairman-stop-the-landfillsrecruiter=102579685&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition 2. If you can, please go to the meeting and explain why you want to protect the community from landfills: Monday, June 2nd, 7:00 p.m., Arundel Center, 44 Calvert Street, Annapolis 3. And finally, please call and email the seven County Council members as well. There is only one phone number for all of the Council members, which is (410) 222-1401. Below are their email addresses. A copy of the text to send the Councilmembers can be found by clicking the link for the 21st District Delegation below: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
