WE REMEMBER Shamilia Mota remembers- That day was a new event I have never heard of before. I was in my 5th grade English class. I remember Mrs. Kilgore turning on the TV onto the CNN news channel. We watched and listened. In my head I was thinking, Whats CNN? Whats the Twin Towers ? ( we didnt have cable in my house growing up) We watched as she dramatically kneeled on the ground and bursted into tears. Other teachers came in holding her. Mrs. Kilgores son was Enlisted. Never knew what Branch. What info I do know is, she received a call prior to us seeing her fall in tears. Her son was shipping off to help rescue. After the call, she found out Tower # 2 dropped. She became extremely frightened. I watched the news, watching everything fall to pieces. I was traumatized. I never understood what happen until days later. I was unaware of terrorist and other bad people. I was just a kid. As I grew older I gained knowledge of what the Military was about. I made a decision and joined at 17 years old. Im proud of what I do and the people I meet. September 11, 2001 made me realize reality. I love to help people, I love my job. I am especially proud I have the privilege to salute our American Flag on a daily basis. I still wonder and pray for her son, we never knew if he came home safely or not. *I REMEMBER* September 11, 2001- share your story by emailing rc.east@yahoo
