WE WILL URGE NEW HOME MINISTER TO IMPLEMENT OUR RECOMMENDATIONS: DILIP PADGAONKAR Srinagar, May 20: Dilip Padgaonkar, the head of the panel of former interlocutors appointed by New Delhi on Kashmir Tuesday said they will urge the new home minister of India to implement the recommendations made by them for improving situation in Kashmir. Padgaonkar said his team was eagerly waiting for the new government to assume charge. “Once India will have its new home minister, all the three interlocutors will sit together and forward a letter to him with respect to our recommendations that we have made in our report about Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. He said the incumbent BJP president Rajnath Singh had said the report of interlocutors should have been made to public to facilitate a healthy debate on its recommendations. “BJP had formed a study group and even that group had gone to Kashmir to assess the situation on ground. Rajnath Singh knows everything about our recommendations and we hope that he will impress upon the new government of India to have a healthy debate on the report of interlocutors,” Padgaonkar said adding that he was hopeful that their recommendations would be implemented. “It is a positive sign that BJP’s top leader agrees with most of our recommendations and we are looking forward to their implementation,” he said. Expressing same views, Professor Radha Kumar, another Kashmir interlocutor said there is no harm in meeting new home minister. “The least the home minister can do is it say ‘no’ to us but something positive may also come out of the meeting,” she said.
