WE put out dried corn on the cob for our squirrels....and when the kernels are on the ground the birds will eat it as well. UP till a few weeks ago, we had to bring in the empty cob and toss them. Lately the cobs are gone....we figure carried off by squirrels or other critters. Yesterday Jim was talking to Mike and Diane Bowie Zaitlin, who live sort of behind us but not right behind us, and they were telling him they have a cardinals nest right outside their window and Mike thought it was funny because he had just noticed a corn cob in the nest and wondered where they had gotten it from! lol! I cannot imagine a cardinal carrying the cob to the nest but maybe a squirrel did....or a squirrel carried it closer. Weird and interesting and fun!
