WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER TWO TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TROPICAL DEPRESSION “MARIO” ISSUED AT 11:00 PM, 17 SEPTEMBER 2014 (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow) TROPICAL DEPRESSION “MARIO” HAS INTENSIFIED SLIGHTLY AND ACCELERATED AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA. At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression “MARIO” was estimated based on all available data at 640 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.5°N, 130.9°E). Strength & Movement : Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center Forecast to move West Northwest at 28 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Depression “MARIO” is expected to be at 420 km East of Casiguran, Aurora by tomorrow evening and at 460 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes by Friday evening. By Saturday evening, it is expected to be at 810 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). • Estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. • TD “MARIO” will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, CARAGA and Northern Mindanao. • Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of the country. Moreover, sea travel is also risky over the western seaboard of Northern Luzon. • The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow.
