WEATHER BULLETIN No. 1 Tropical Cyclone Alert: Tropical Depression “#EMONG” Issued at 5:00 pm, 16 June 2013 (valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 pm today) The Low Pressure Area (LPA) estimated east of Surigao City has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named “EMONG”. Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression “EMONG” was estimated based on all available data at 370 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.4°N, 128.3°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 45 kph near the center. Movement: Forecast to move North Northwest at 09 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Depression “EMONG” is expected to be at 320 km Northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar tomorrow afternoon. By Tuesday afternoon, it will be at 500 km Northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar and at 490 km Northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan by Wednesday afternoon. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. • Tropical Depression “EMONG” is still far to directly affect any part of the country. However, it will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. • TD “Emong” is likely to intensify within the next 24 to 48 hours. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 pm today
