WEATHER: Currently 37° moving to a high today of 41°. The rain has moved on. Happy Thanksgiving to all. COMMENTARY: Amethyst is beautiful quartz that varies in color. Amethyst is believed to create a sober mind, and in fact, the word comes from the Greek meaning without drunkenness. It can be used as dream stone to bring about pleasant dreams if it is placed underneath your pillow while you sleep. Amethyst was often worn by the Ancient Egyptians to ward off guilty or fearful feelings. Amethyst has long been used as a means to open spiritual and psychic awareness, and is a powerful tool when it comes to meditation. Besides being considered to be a Power Stone and a Protection Stone, amethyst is also referred to as a Wisdom Stone, and the Bishop’s Stone because it is symbolic of piety, humility, spiritual wisdom and sincerity; Catholic Bishops still wear Amethyst to this day. Amethyst will heal negativity in a home if they are placed on a windowsill that receives lots of sunlight. If it is placed in moonlight, everyone in the home will feel much more calm and relaxed. Amethyst, in the modern tradition, represents 33 years of marriage. Today is the day I got my Amethyst and all the wonderful things that came with it.
